Record-breaking auction result for 2022 Good Friday Appeal Charity Auction Home
This Good Friday, there were more than one million glorious reasons to celebrate. $1,082,000 to be precise, as that was the jaw-dropping price fetched at this year’s Good Friday Appeal Charity Home no reserve auction.
Street party with a difference
More than 600 people flocked to Sunbury on Good Friday to be part one of the biggest events on the Good Friday Appeal calendar. In the lead up to the 2pm auction, there were activities aplenty to keep families entertained including live entertainment, face-painting, kids’ rides, Marvel Avengers super heroes, the Dulux Dog, sausage sizzle, coffee cart, food and ice cream trucks as well as a brand-new playground directly opposite the home.
Its Auction Time!
It was a fast and furious action with auctioneer Paul Tzamalis weaving his magic to keep the bids moving.
With seven registered bidders in the mix, Sharlotte and Rami Ayoob of Mickleham secured the winning bid of $1,082,000 for Henley’s Vogue 34, the land donated by Villawood and all the furniture.
“We’d been looking for a year. It’s like being born again to be honest, something new and fresh,” said Rami. “We saw the GFA house and it grabbed us.”
“The home is really comfortable. It feels great knowing the money’s going to the Royal Children’s,” said Sharlotte.
Rising donation tally
2022 marks Henley’s 30th year of building and donating houses to the Good Friday Appeal and with that, Henley has donated more than $18 million in total to the Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal since 1993.
A big thank you!
Antony Blackshaw, CEO, Henley Properties Group says, “What a tremendous auction result, befitting of Henley’s 30th anniversary of our involvement with the Good Friday Appeal.
“As always, auction day was filled with colour, laughter, and a wonderful $1,082,000 result for the Royal Children’s Hospital. I would like to take the opportunity to thank all the Henley and Villawood teams who made this build and auction possible. A lot happens behind the scenes to make this such a success. And I would like to sincerely thank all the volunteer trade and suppliers, who year after year, donate their time and resources to the charity home and helping us raise over $18 million for the Royal Children’s Hospital over the journey. Their unwavering commitment is worth bottling!”
We look forward to the 2023 GFA Charity Home and will keep you posted on its next location!
