Build on something solid

We don’t just build houses – we build communities, futures, and a place for families to thrive.

Our story that began in 1989 with three friends who shared a simple but powerful vision: to make homeownership more affordable for Australian families.

That vision belonged to Peter Hayes, Rob Bowen, and John Harvey, who founded Henley Properties Group with a commitment to quality, transparency, and value.

Since then, we’ve built more than 60,000 homes across Victoria, Queensland, New South Wales, and South Australia under the Henley Homes, Plantation Homes, and Edgewater Homes brands. But it’s not just about the numbers – it’s about the people we serve. Our commitment goes beyond construction. We’re here to create better, happier, and healthier homes for Australian families.

As part of the Sumitomo Forestry Group – a global leader with a rich history in sustainable forestry, manufacturing, and home building dating back more than 330 years - we’re backed by strength, stability, and a shared commitment to innovation and integrity.

But what really sets us apart is our unwavering focus on doing the right thing. Whether it’s our transparent pricing, our sustainability initiatives, or our commitment to quality, we’re here to deliver more than just a house. We’re here to deliver a home.

Our homes don’t just meet the moment – they help shape the future.

Since 1989, we've been driven by a bold vision: to redefine Australian homebuilding through innovation, livability, and leadership. From pioneering open-plan designs during a market downturn to becoming Australia’s largest home builder by 1999, our journey has been defined by a relentless pursuit of excellence. Our expansion into New South Wales, Queensland, and the USA with MainVue Homes has enriched our design philosophy - blending global insights with local expertise.

Sustainability is at the core of our innovation.

In the early 2000s, we led the industry by introducing 5-star energy-rated homes at no extra cost - thanks to our partnership with CSIRO - setting a new benchmark for efficiency. More recently, we’ve challenged the myth that sustainable homes must come at a premium. Our Reserve and Mainvue collections prove that luxury and sustainability can coexist affordably. And with the launch of our net zero initiative in Queensland, we’re not just meeting standards - we’re setting them, empowering homeowners to choose smarter, greener living without compromise.

As part of the global Sumitomo Forestry Group, we’re backed by more than 330 years of forest stewardship, innovation, and sustainable leadership. Together, we’re working toward a decarbonised world - one tree, one home, one family at a time.
